The meeting with freshmen in Azerbaijan University is held on 14 September. Several meetings were held during the day at which Farid Ahmadov, the Rector of Azerbaijan University, welcomed students having entered university in the academic year 2016-2017.

The Rector stated that becoming a student is a result of great efforts and congratulated students with the following words: ‘You are taking great responsibility by receiving the status of student. Up to now it was your goal to enter univerisity, from now on you should strive for further achievements. You should focus on in-depth study of your major to become a competitive specialist’.

He also remarked that it is the university’s goal not only to provide students with expert knowledge and help them develop the necessary skills and habits, but also to nurture citizens dedicated to their people and country. The university is working in this direction.

Farid Ahmadov encouraged students to develop comprehensive knowledge and take an active part in social life of the university. He also said that along with the Student Youth Organization run by the university there is a number of student clubs grouped by interest.

The meeting was attended by Safar Mammadov, the Dean of the School of Humanities, Agun Musayeva, the Dean of the School of Social Work, Vusal Hasanov, the Dean of the School of Business and Economics, and Asif Pashayev, the Dean of the School of Information and Communication Technologies. They congratulated the students and shared their recommendations on how to make the most of  their time as students. The chair of the Student Youth Organization, Javidan Heybatzadeh informed the audience about the organization's activities.

Upon the end of the meeting, the students were given their student cards.
