Two-day “Red Team” and “Blue Team” training held for ICT students
A two-day training session on “Red Team” and “Blue Team” was organized for students of the ICT Faculty at Azerbaijan University by the MilliSec cybersecurity company, with the support of the Association of Cybersecurity Organizations of Azerbaijan (AKTA). The training sessions were practical in nature and based on real-life scenarios.
On the first day, Red Team trainer Zaur Gasymov delivered a series of presentations covering topics such as servers and their attack vectors, introduction to port scanning, practical port scanning, and vulnerability detection and exploitation. The day concluded with a Capture the Flag (CTF) competition based on realistic attack scenarios.
The second day was led by Blue Team trainer Fakhrim Safarov, who presented on SIEM: concept, deployment and configuration, XDR: concept, deployment and configuration, and CTI: concept, its role, and application. CTF competition was held at the end of the training.
Based on the results of the competition, Abdulvahab Poladzada, a 3rd-year student majoring in Information Technologies, won 1st place, Nahid Huseynli, a 3rd-year student majoring in Computer Engineering, won 2nd place, and Yunis Badalov, a 3rd-year student majoring in Information Security, secured 3rd place. The winners received certificates and prizes from MilliSec, while all participants were awarded certificates of completion.
It is worth noting that the winners of this competition will go on to represent Azerbaijan University in the upcoming inter-university CTF tournament, which includes participants from ten universities across the country.
