Azerbaijan University hosted roundtable dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Constitution
A roundtable titled “The 30th Anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan: The History of Formation and Prospects for the Development of the State Legal System” was held at Azerbaijan University. The event, jointly organized by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Department of Political and Social Sciences, was opened with welcoming remarks by the Head of the Department, Assoc. Prof. Elvin Talishinsky. In his speech, Talishinsky analyzed the history and modern development of Azerbaijani statehood and emphasized the place and significance of Azerbaijan’s statehood model in both regional and international contexts. Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Safar Mammadov, stressed the historical contributions of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev to the development and adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Tarlan Agayev, lecturer at the Department of Political and Social Sciences, delivered a presentation titled “The Evolutionary Process of Sovereignty and the Sovereignty Model of the Republic of Azerbaijan”. In his address, he highlighted the evolution of the concept of sovereignty throughout history, the stages before and after the restoration of Azerbaijan’s independence, and the historical foundations of the country’s modern sovereignty model.
Another presentation, delivered by lecturer Ali Babazada, focused on “Building a Legal State in Azerbaijan: In the Context of the Constitution and Sovereignty”. He discussed the development of the legal state-building process starting from the period of Azerbaijan’s national awakening and elaborated on the formation of the legal foundations of sovereignty and the practice of statehood before and after the adoption of the Constitution.
