The Department of Foreign Languages at Azerbaijan University has successfully concluded a series of academic writing training sessions. The training was conducted by Asmar Atasoy, a lecturer at the Department, and focused on IELTS Writing Task 2 – “Discuss both views”.

In addition to the staff of the Department of Foreign Languages, the event was attended by faculty members from the Departments of Translation and Philology, as well as a group of students majoring in Translation (English Language). The primary goal of the training was to develop students’ academic essay writing skills in accordance with international standards and to familiarize them with the specific requirements of the IELTS exam.

In her presentation, Asmar Atasoy highlighted the key features of the “Discuss both views” essay structure. She provided detailed guidance on crafting an effective introduction, presenting both viewpoints, expressing personal stance, and also explained how the conclusion part should be written on the basis of practical examples.

Through interactive sessions, students engaged in discussions on selected topics, shared their perspectives, asked questions, and collaboratively analyzed sample essays.
