Azerbaijan University held an event dedicated to the memory of the nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev. Before the event, the University leadership visited the grave of the nationwide leader in the Alley of Honor, respectfully honored his memory and laid bouquets of flowers at the monument. They also visited the grave of Academician Zarifa Aliyeva; bouquets of flowers were laid in front of her monument.

The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan sounded at the memorial event, the memory of the great leader was marked by a moment of silence.

At the event, it was noted that the nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev is a great historical figure and a prominent statesman who left a mark in the modern history of Azerbaijan. The nationwide leader, who returned to power in the early 90s at the insistent demand of the people, in a clash of interests of powerful world forces, took on an emergency mission, eliminating obstacles to gaining independence of Azerbaijan, using his foresight, wisdom and intellect prevented civil war, defeated the harsh trials of that period and created the basis of the system of modern statehood, making the independence of Azerbaijan irreversible and eternal. During the rule of the brilliant leader, a model of economic development of Azerbaijan was determined, great changes and progress were achieved in all spheres of political, economic and cultural life, tremendous work was done to increase the influence and recognition of the country in the international arena.

At the commemorative event, it was noted that the ingenious person entrusted his masterpiece - the state of Azerbaijan to his worthy successor to President Ilham Aliyev. Mr. President Ilham Aliyev successfully continued the state course, which was determined by the national leader, which confirms faith in the future of Azerbaijan.

At the event, it was emphasized that the merits of a national leader to the state and people of Azerbaijan will be more clearly revealed over time. His life path and social and political activities are rich treasury and great help for young people. For this reason, the preservation of his heritage, the study of life and activity plays a big role. On this path, young people have a great responsibility.

At the end of the commemorative event, a documentary was shown about the life and work of a nationwide leader.
