The 1st AU MUN simulation conference held at Azerbaijan University
The first AU MUN simulation conference was held at Azerbaijan University within the framework of the AzMUN program, jointly organized by the University Student Youth Organization and the Azerbaijan University Model United Nations Club (AU MUN). The two-day conference aimed to enhance students’ knowledge of international relations, diplomacy, and global issues; develop public speaking, debate, and discussion skills; prepare student youth for the international environment providing them with the opportunity to participate in the Model UN format; and increase the representation of Azerbaijan University in international student activities.
The opening ceremony featured speeches by Assoc. Prof. Elvin Talyshinski, Head of the Department of Political and Social Sciences at Azerbaijan University; Huseyn Rustamli, Chair of the Student Youth Organization; Sabir Sultanov, Head of the AzMUN Program; and Gulzaman Aliyeva, Secretary-General of the AU MUN Club.
The conference consisted of two committees. The topic of the Azerbaijani-language committee was “Challenges of International Armed Conflicts: Security, Peacekeeping and International Law”, while the English-language committee focused on “Debating the Global Migration Crisis and Its Humanitarian, Political and Economic Implications”. A competitive environment was observed in both committees.
The event concluded with a closing ceremony, during which the delegates representing the member states of the committees were awarded.
More than 60 students from higher education institutions across the country participated in the conference.
