Azerbaijan University celebrated its 31st Graduation Day
The 31st Graduation Day in Azerbaijan University, dedicated to the graduates of the 2024/2025 academic year, has taken place. The event, held at Badamdar Hotel and Residences, brought together University leadership, academic and administrative staff, and graduates.
The ceremony commenced with the National Anthem, followed by a moment of silence in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity, independence, and constitutional order of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Rector of Azerbaijan University, PhD in Philology, Saadat Aliyeva, made an opening speech. The rector noted that the world is changing rapidly, modern challenges and requirements are also changing the education system. She noted that Azerbaijan University responds to these modern demands by not only imparting knowledge but also by cultivating self-confidence, critical thinking, integrity, and innovation among students. The University encourages openness to diversity and the ability to distinguish right from wrong. “I express my deepest gratitude to our faculty and academic staff. Over the years, they have instilled many admirable and positive qualities in you. I wholeheartedly congratulate all of our graduates. I am confident that the knowledge you have gained here will help you find your rightful place in life. As graduates of Azerbaijan University, may you always raise the name of our victorious and proud homeland – Azerbaijan – both within the country and beyond”, the Rector said. Saadat Aliyeva also advised graduates to continually work on self-improvement, to set new goals after achieving previous ones, and wished them success in the next chapter of their lives.
Following the Rector’s speech, congratulatory messages and well wishes were delivered by Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Safar Mammadov; Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technologies, Asif Pashayev; Vice Deans of the Faculty of Business and Economics, Goshgar Garaev and Nahid Almasov; lecturers Huseyn Huseynli, Sadagat Hasanova, and Gulyana Isayeva; Yemeni national and international graduate of the University, Ahmed Anwar Hussein Al-Ashwal. All speakers expressed confidence that the knowledge, skills, and values acquired during the students’ academic journey would serve as a solid foundation for their independent and responsible futures.
Following the congratulatory speeches, the honorary diplomas signed by Rector Saadat Aliyeva were awarded to those who graduated with the first, second and third place in the faculties, the top graduates of the master's and MBA programs, the top graduate of the University, and graduates distinguished by social activity in the University life.
Marina Nasibova, who etched her name into the University’s history, delivered a speech on behalf of the graduates of the 2024/2025 academic year. She shared unforgettable memories from the past years and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the University leadership, faculty members, and her family for their unwavering support.
Following the traditional cap-tossing ceremony, Eliana Panahova, a soloist of the “Alov” dance ensemble, performed the “Sarı Gəlin” dance. Ilkin Fuad, soloist of Azerbaijan State Television and a laureate of international competitions, presented a concert program.
It is worth noting that this year, 639 students are graduating from Azerbaijan University, including 498 bachelor’s and 141 master’s degree holders.
