Presentation of the book “Fuzzy Logic and Language-Speech” held at Azerbaijan University
Presentation ceremony and discussion of the book “Fuzzy Logic and Language-Speech”, authored by people's writer, academician Kamal Abdulla, and corresponding member of ANAS, Prof. Rafig Aliyev, took place at Azerbaijan University.
Rector of Azerbaijan University, PhD in Philology Saadat Aliyeva, welcomed the guests and participants, expressing her pride in sharing the same platform with the distinguished authors. In her speech, the Rector briefly outlined the philosophical essence of the fuzzy logic theory developed by Lotfi Zadeh and cited the world-renowned scholar’s 1960s vision: “Something must be done to bridge the gap between the real world and the mathematical world”, emphasizing that Lotfi Zadeh’s logic was the result of scientific pursuits aimed in this direction. Today, fuzzy logic is increasingly penetrating the humanities. Thus, as a result of the joint work of academician Kamal Abdulla and professor Rafig Aliyev, two very valuable scientific works such as “Kitabi Dede Gorgud and Fuzzy Logic” and “Fuzzy Logic and Language-Speech” were created. The Rector noted that these works open new horizons for researchers and wished success to the event.
The authors of the work, academician Kamal Abdulla and professor Rafig Aliyev, spoke about the process of creating the book. Rafig Aliyev emphasized that the author of the idea of the books benefiting from the famous theory of Lotfi Zadeh was Kamal Abdulla, and the application of fuzzy logic in the field of linguistics opened a new path in the analysis of the relations between logic and language. Academician Kamal Abdulla stated that applying fuzzy logic to other fields of science had been Lotfi Zadeh’s greatest dream. The first book was published not only in Azerbaijan, but also in Turkey and Germany and plays a major role in promoting Lutfi Zadeh's mission. The authors are currently working on a new volume, with the final book in the trilogy to be dedicated to “Fuzzy Logic for Children”.
Then, vice-rector for scientific affairs of Azerbaijan University Yusif Gasimov, prof. of the Department of Translation and Philology Gorkhmaz Guliyev, and distinguished guests including Academician Mukhtar Imanov, corresponding member of Anas prof. Gorkhmaz Imanov, prof. Ismayil Mammadov, and prof. Tahira Allahyarly, member of the Board of the Center for Social Research, head of the Department, also spoke. In their speeches, they emphasized that applying fuzzy logic to the social sciences, particularly to the study of language and speech, provides a new perspective and creates new directions for research. The books authored by people's writer, academician Kamal Abdulla and corresponding member of ANAS, prof. Rafig Aliyev, not only offer new insights into Lotfi Zadeh’s theory but also invite both the academic community and the wider public on an intellectual journey. The completion of the trilogy is expected to make a significant contribution to the popularization of science.
The event continued with a discussion and a Q&A session with students.
At the end of the event, the authors signed copies of their book for the participants.
