Vusala Ismayilova, Assoc. Prof. at the Department of Social Work Organization of Azerbaijan University, delivered a presentation titled “Developing Analytical Thinking in Higher Education Students (based on the teaching of Neurobiology, Cytology, and Histology)” at the MEETCON – Europe International Congress, held on 13–17 October 2025 in Munich, Germany. Her presentation emphasized the importance of cultivating analytical thinking skills in the teaching and learning process.

In her speech, Vusala Ismayilova noted that the disciplines of cytology and histology taught at universities are closely interconnected with neurobiology, which is included in the Social Work curriculum. She highlighted that active teaching methods such as “Case-based learning”, “Flipped classroom”, virtual experiments, and reflective writing are effectively applied in teaching neurobiology along with cytology and histology. Developing analytical thinking and research skills in students plays a crucial role in higher education. Today, the importance of cytology, histology, and neurobiology is continually increasing, and understanding these processes scientifically enhances the professional competencies of students.

Contemporary education model requires not only knowledge acquisition from students but also the ability to think critically and analytically. In this sense, analytical thinking is a universal skill that bridges both biological and social sciences.
