She participated in the session titled “Human Development Principles: Towards Climate-Resilient and Inclusive Social Development”, held under the chairmanship of Azerbaijan COP29 and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). The session focused on the interlinkages between climate change and social development, as well as inclusive, human-centered development strategies and approaches.
Notably, this large-scale UN meeting was held for the first time outside New York or Geneva. The event took place 30 years after the first World Social Summit, held in 1995 in Copenhagen, Denmark. From 4-6 November 2025, the summit brought together more than 8,000 participants from 200 countries, including heads of state and government, ministers, senior UN officials, representatives of civil society, youth organizations, academic and educational institutions, and the private sector. The purpose of the summit was to define a new roadmap for reducing global poverty, strengthening social protection, ensuring inclusive development, and responding to rapid technological and environmental changes. Azerbaijan’s social work sector was successfully represented at the summit.
