Recognizing the broad career opportunities and advantages of international language certifications in both domestic and global labor markets, Azerbaijan University has, for several years, been actively encouraging its students to prepare for and sit the PTE (Pearson Test of English) - a globally recognized certification confirming English language proficiency. All training and examination costs are fully covered by Azerbaijan University, and the certificate awarding ceremony is traditionally held at the beginning of each academic year.

This year, 14 students of Azerbaijan University successfully passed the PTE exam and were awarded international English language certificates at levels A2 (Level 1), B1 (Level 2), B2 (Level 3), and C1 (Level 4). The certificates were presented to the students by Aygun Gasimova, Head of the Department of Foreign Languages.

The PTE certification exam consisted of two components: oral and written. 2 candidates passed Level 1, 4 candidates passed Level 2, 6 candidates passed Level 3, 2 candidates passed Level 4.

The obtained results are equivalent to: A2 = IELTS 3.0–4.0 or TOEFL 20–31, B1 = IELTS 4.0–5.0 or TOEFL 57–86, B2 = IELTS 5.0–6.5 or TOEFL 87–109, C1 = IELTS 7.0–8.0 or TOEFL 95–110.

Eight students: Aysel Gadirova, Rufat Alizada, Fatima Jafarzada, Aghashirin Huseynli, Said Maharramli, Gunay Azizova, Said Mehrali, and Maryam Safarli were awarded “Pass with Merit” for their outstanding performance.

It should be noted that since 2018, Azerbaijan University has been an official PTE (Pearson Test of English) sub-center, authorized to organize both preparatory training and examinations for students aiming to obtain this internationally recognized language certificate. PTE is one of the most widely recognized English language proficiency certifications worldwide. Between 2018 and 2025, a total of 89 students from Azerbaijan University have successfully earned their PTE certificates.
