Dean of the ICT Faculty honored with a prestigious ICPC Foundation Award
Asif Pashayev, Dean of the ICT Faculty at Azerbaijan University, has been awarded the “Exemplary Engagement with the Global ICPC Community” prize by the ICPC Foundation.
The award was presented to Asif Pashayev in recognition of his more than ten years of leadership of Azerbaijan University’s ICPC teams, in accordance with the decision of the Organizing Committee of the ICPC 2025 World Finals – the International Collegiate Programming Contest, which were held in Baku from August 31 to September 4, 2025.
In recognition of the important role he has played in the development of the ICPC community in Azerbaijan and in nurturing young talents across the country, as well as his high level of professionalism and tireless dedication, he was extended sincere gratitude for his valuable contribution to the academic and educational community.
It should be noted that the “Exemplary Engagement with the Global ICPC Community” award is presented to individuals or groups who have made a substantial contribution to promoting the contest and raising public awareness of it. The ICPC, which aims to develop students’ programming skills, algorithmic thinking, and teamwork abilities, originated in the United States in the 1970s and has been held at the international level since 1977. Each year, more than 50,000 students from over 3,000 universities in 110 countries participate in the contest. The contest finals, which serve as a global bridge between universities and industry, were held in Baku for the first time in the summer of 2025.
