A discussion was held at Azerbaijan University to review the work completed during the current academic year and to outline upcoming tasks.
A broad-based meeting took place at Azerbaijan University, focusing on the work completed in September-October for the autumn semester of the 2025/2026 academic year, as well as on future areas of activity. The meeting, chaired by the Rector of the University, PhD in Philology Saadat Aliyeva, and attended by members of the Academic Council and heads of structural divisions, was of significant importance in terms of defining upcoming tasks.
Rector Saadat Aliyeva presented the agenda items to the participants and highlighted the positive dynamics observed across all areas of the University’s activities. In her address, the Rector described the results achieved during the first two months as a successful start and provided extensive information on key quantitative and qualitative indicators of student enrollment, the transition to a differentiated remuneration system, the development of new master’s degree programmes, the admission of international students, internationalisation efforts, including the University’s position in international rankings, faculty recruitment, preparations for national and international accreditation, the enhancement of the activities of the Training and Education Centre, the implementation of new projects, the development of a student-centred environment, and other related matters. The Rector emphasised that the results achieved in September-October reflect progress across all areas and noted that the meeting served both to assess the work accomplished and to determine future priorities.
Subsequently, deans, heads of departments, and academic unit leaders presented reports on the activities of their respective structural units. The reports addressed the quality of the educational environment and teaching process, the organisation of research activities, the achievements of students and academic staff, the implementation of the University’s strategic development plan, as well as issues related to governance and administration.
During the meeting, areas requiring further attention to enhance the University’s performance were also assessed, and an exchange of views took place on the steps necessary to achieve further improvement. The Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs, PhD in Math Yusif Gasimov, and the Rector’s Advisor and Director of the International Master’s and Doctoral Centre, PhD in History, Assoc. Prof. Nushaba Guliyeva, put forward proposals related to the issues discussed at the meeting.
The broad-based meeting continued with discussions on other current issues.
