An educational session on “HIV/AIDS, Stigma, and Reintegration” was held at Azerbaijan University

An educational session entitled “HIV/AIDS, Stigma, and Reintegration” was held at Azerbaijan University. During the session, second-year master’s students majoring in Social Work in Various Spheres of Life delivered presentations on topics such as HIV/AIDS, social stigma and discrimination faced by people living with HIV, psychosocial support services, as well as effective models of treatment and rehabilitation.

The student-prepared presentations covered the current HIV/AIDS situation globally and in the region, reintegration programmes supported by international organisations - UNAIDS, WHO, and UNDP - the consequences of social isolation and the social adaptation of at-risk groups, as well as relevant issues related to the psychosocial support needs of people living with HIV, the role of social work in combating stigma and discrimination, contemporary approaches to rehabilitation, and the importance of community-based services.

Following the presentations, the event continued with a discussion based on real-life examples of intervention models applied in modern social work practice. The discussion was moderated by Nigar Shahhuseynbayova, Head of the Department of Social Work Organisation.
