Internal qualifying round of the ICPC programming contest held at Azerbaijan University

Azerbaijan University has hosted the internal qualifying round of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) for students of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technologies. The Olympiad, organized under the guidance of the Dean of the Faculty, Asif Pashayev, and Mathematics and Computer Science Department lecturer, Ali Gurbanov, aimed to form University teams for participation in the ICPC regional qualification stage – the world’s most prestigious student programming competition.

Based on the results of the Olympiad, Ulvi Sadigzada, a 4th-year student majoring in Information Technology, took 1st place; Nihat Aliyev, a 4th-year student majoring in Information Security, took 2nd place; and Alijan Mikayilov, a 3rd-year student of Information Technology, took 3rd place.

During the contest, students were given 10 tasks in the format of the Olympiad, and they had four hours to submit their solutions.

It should be noted that ICPC was established in the United States in 1970. Held internationally since 1977, the competition aims to develop students programming abilities, algorithmic thinking, and teamwork skills.
