The Foreign Languages Department of Azerbaijan University organized a training session on the topic “IELTS Writing Task 1”. The session, led by Department instructor Shabnam Seyidzada, was aimed at supporting the professional development of faculty members and ensuring alignment with international standards in the teaching process.

During the interactive session, Shabnam Seyidzada provided participants with detailed insights into the IELTS exam requirements, types of tasks in Writing Task 1, including bar chart, line graph, table, process, map, and other forms of visual data representation, and made recommendations on the correct construction of writing structures, evaluation criteria and the use of academic language.

During the presentation, analyzes were carried out on specific examples, planning of various writing examples and appropriate application of lexical tools were presented to the participants based on practical examples.

It is worth noting that, in addition to the Foreign Languages Department, faculty members from the Department of Translation and Philology also participated in the training. The primary goal of the session was to enhance instructors’ knowledge of IELTS writing skills and contribute to higher academic outcomes through standardized assessment approaches.
