A treasury of Turkic thought opens to the world. A new monograph titled “Common Identity and Philosophical Heritage: A History of Thought in Turkic Culture” has been published, co-authored by Azerbaijani and Turkish scholars, co-authored by Assoc. Prof. Elvin Talyshinsky, Head of the Department of Political and Social Sciences at Azerbaijan University.

Written in English by leading Azerbaijani and Turkish scholars, the monograph was published in Turkiye. The work was produced under the scientific editorship of Academician Isa Habibbayli, President of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, which further enhances its academic authority and strategic significance.

This work represents one of the first comprehensive studies to systematically examine the history of philosophy, prominent philosophers, and major intellectual movements among Turkic peoples over millennia. The monograph provides a scholarly analysis of early philosophical views on the universe, life, death, nature, and humanity that took shape in Turkic societies from ancient times. The inclusion of portrait essays on Turkic philosophers, along with in-depth interpretations of their ideas and intellectual contributions, elevates both the scientific and educational value of the book. This approach allows the shared intellectual heritage of the Turkic world to be viewed not only as a historical phenomenon but also as an active component of contemporary scholarly discourse.

The historical significance of the monograph lies in its contribution to preserving the collective memory of Turkic peoples by highlighting their common past, shared culture, and intellectual heritage. The book vividly demonstrates the role of philosophical thought in shaping national identity and makes a substantial contribution to systematizing the common roots of the Turkic nations.

Its political significance is particularly relevant in the modern era. The strengthening of cultural and academic ties between Azerbaijan and the Turkic world during the period of independence, the strategic policy of President Ilham Aliyev toward the unity of Turkic states, and the national awakening in Turkic identity following the Karabakh Victory were key sources of inspiration for this monograph. Publishing the book in Turkey not only enhances its scholarly prestige but also symbolizes the intellectual integration of the

Turkic world - a vivid example of the unity of the two brotherly nations in the fields of science and culture.

Importantly, publishing the monograph in English ensures its integration into the international academic space and promotes Turkic philosophical heritage globally. The work is expected to attract interest not only in Turkic countries but also among academic circles in Europe, America, and Asia, serving as a valuable reference in comparative philosophy, intercultural dialogue, and cross-civilizational studies. It contributes to an objective presentation of the rich philosophical and cultural legacy of Turkic peoples worldwide.

The monograph is intended as a foundational resource not only for scholars and researchers but also for a broad readership. Beyond offering a systematic study of Turkic philosophical heritage, it provides a powerful tool for understanding Turkic cultural, ethnic and intellectual roots and for transmitting this legacy to future generations. The publication holds strategic importance for both academic research and the ideological consolidation of the shared identity of the Turkic world.

In conclusion, “Common Identity and Philosophical Heritage: A History of Thought in Turkic Culture” is not merely a scientific study; it is also a landmark event in the strengthening of cultural and intellectual unity among Turkic nations.

Among the authors of the monograph are Prof. Mahira Huseynova, Vice-Rector for International Relations at the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, and Alptekin Cihangir Ishbilir, Press Secretary at the Turkish Embassy in Azerbaijan and diplomat.
