National Observatory held a Consultation Day at Azerbaijan University

The National Observatory on Labour Market and Social Protection Issues organized a Consultation Day for students of Azerbaijan University, focusing on “The current state and prospects of the labor market”. Participants received detailed information about the Observatory’s labor market analysis results, recent developments, current business world requirements, career planning and professional development opportunities.

Opening the event, Fidan Seyidshahgyzy, Press Secretary of the National Observatory, welcomed the students and highlighted the importance of the meeting.

Ali Tagizada, Deputy Head of the Labor Market and Social Protection Research Department, then addressed the audience and spoke about the Observatory’s activities, its structural divisions, key areas of work, and objectives, as well as presented an analysis of job vacancy announcements. Ali Tagizada noted that one in every five analyzed vacancies belonged to the financial sector. He also emphasized the significance of soft skills in today’s labor market.

Ulkar Asgarova, senior specialist in the Monitoring Department, delivered a presentation on “Current labor market trends”. She noted that while employment opportunities in some sectors are increasing, they are declining in others. She discussed the impact of rapid technological development on the labor market, the emerging requirements for future professions and skills, and presented statistical data reflecting employment levels across different specializations. The expert highlighted that there is growing demand for graduates in fields such as economics and management.

The event continued with a Q&A session, where participants posed questions to the speakers.

Concluding the meeting, Nigar Shahhuseynbayova, Head of the Department of Social Work Organization at Azerbaijan University, emphasized the success of the event and expressed gratitude to the guests. She also announced that opportunities for student internships at the National Observatory are under consideration.

It is worth noting that the event was held within the framework of the cooperation memorandum signed between Azerbaijan University and the National Observatory on Labour Market and Social Protection Issues.
