The Department of Foreign Languages at Azerbaijan University organized a training session on the “Writing Task 1” section of the IELTS exam. In addition to faculty members from the Department of Foreign Languages, the training, conducted by Ayten Pirmammadova, a lecturer of the Department, at the University’s Teaching and Education Centre, was also attended by lecturers from the Department of Translation and Philology.

During the interactive training, participants were provided with detailed explanations on writing essays for the “Process Writing” section, including proper structure, adherence to grammatical and lexical norms, assessment criteria, and effective writing strategies. The training offered both theoretical knowledge and practical application, with participants engaging in discussions and working on practice examples. Questions were answered, analytical materials were presented, and ideas were exchanged on samples of written works.

It should be noted that the main goal of the training, dedicated to developing academic writing skills, is to enhance the academic writing competencies of faculty and students and to improve their preparation for international language exams.
