Nasimi District Police Department held an awareness rising event at Azerbaijan University

An awareness rising event dedicated to combating drug addiction, religious radicalism, and cybercrime was held for students at Azerbaijan University, with the participation of colonel Vugar Aghayev, head of the Nasimi District Police Department, and department officers.

The event was opened by assoc. prof. Safar Mammadov, dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, who introduced the guests and spoke about the importance of educational activities in addressing pressing issues such as drug addiction, religious radicalism, and cybercrime.

Colonel Vugar Aghayev then delivered a presentation titled “What is drug addiction?”, where he provided information about drug addiction and its harmful effects. He shared interesting facts regarding the number of registered drug users in Azerbaijan, statistics on narcotics identified and seized by the Department, as well as methods used to transport drugs into the country. In his remarks, the head of the Police Department discussed the “The State Program for 2019-2024 on Combating illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors as well as prevention of drug addiction”, approved by President Ilham Aliyev, and highlighted the dangers and consequences of religious radicalism.

Araz Bayramov, an officer of the Nasimi District Police Department, presented information on methods of combating cybercrime and spoke about the decisive measures being taken in this area. He emphasized the importance of strengthening civic responsibility in preventing crimes committed against citizens through cybercrime and in eliminating such negative occurrences.

Following the presentations, a video demonstrating the consequences of drug addiction was shown, and students’ questions were answered.

At the end of the event, informational booklets prepared by the Nasimi District Police Department were distributed to the participants.
