An event dedicated to World AIDS Day was held at Azerbaijan University
An awareness rising event dedicated to 1 December – World AIDS Day was held at Azerbaijan University. The event was attended by second-year master’s students majoring in Social Work in Various Spheres of Life, as well as active undergraduate members of the Sosfera Social Development Club. The purpose of the event was to enhance the practical skills of Social Work students and to increase their awareness of HIV/AIDS.
During the event, master’s students delivered presentations on HIV/AIDS. The presentations covered issues such as stigma, discrimination, and stereotypes faced by people living with HIV, their psychosocial support needs, treatment and rehabilitation models, the importance of social reintegration, and related topics.
Following the presentations, the event continued with a thematic discussion, during which master’s students answered questions from undergraduate students and further deepened the discussion. The discussion focused on stereotypes, social stigma, and discrimination, as well as the exchange of views on modern rehabilitation approaches and the practical implementation of community-based services.
The discussion was moderated by Nigar Shahhuseynbayova, Head of the Department of Social Work Organization.
