Saadat Aliyeva, Rector of Azerbaijan University and PhD in Philology, delivered a keynote speech at an international event titled “New trends in the socio-psychological adaptation of Individuals under probationary supervision”. The event, organized via the Zoom platform by the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, was dedicated to the “Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty” and the World Social Work Day in the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The event opened with a welcoming address by Vugar Beybutov, chairman of the Board of the Social Services Agency. In his speech, Vugar Beybutov highlighted the Agency’s activities over the past five years and shared information about its accomplishments.

In her address, Saadat Aliyeva quoted President Ilham Aliyev’s words: “Social sphere, people's welfare and social protection will be in the spotlight”, emphasizing that the prioritization of the social sector places significant responsibility on the relevant institutions. Highlighting the mission and contributions of Azerbaijan University in this sphere, Aliyeva provided an overview of the development and history of the Social Work program at the University, including personnel training, graduate employment rates, the activities of the Department of Social Work Organization, the Social-Psychological Research and Counseling Center, student clubs, as well as national and international collaborations and the integration of international best practices. She noted that the Social Work bachelor's program successfully received international accreditation for a five-year period in 2023, which not only strengthens the University’s global standing but also enhances the competitiveness of its graduates.

The rector further announced that preparations are well underway for the second International Conference on “Social Work and Social Research”, scheduled for May 23–25, 2025. The conference will be co-organized by Azerbaijan University, the Center for Social Research, Fırat University (Turkey), and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University (Turkey). She invited all participants to attend the upcoming Conference and mentioned that important work is currently being carried out to update and refine the University’s educational programs.

The event also featured speeches and presentations by Vugar Agayev, head of the Probation Service of the Ministry of Justice, as well as university representatives, specialists, and experts from Azerbaijan and Turkey specializing in probation, social work, and social services.
