Founder and Secretary-General of SUN Songdon Hwang visited Azerbaijan University

Songdon Hwang, Founder and Secretary-General of the Silk Road Universities Network (SUN) and prof. at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (South Korea), visited Azerbaijan University. During his visit, he met with Dr. Yusif Gasimov, Vice-Rector for scientific affairs at the University. Elmira Ismayilova, head of the International Relations Department, also participated in the meeting.

During the discussion, which focused on potential areas of cooperation, Vice-Rector Yusif Gasimov briefed the guest about Azerbaijan University, highlighting the achievements made in recent years. He also spoke about the University’s international relations and outlined the goals set in this direction.

In turn, the guest – prof. Songdon Hwang spoke about the Silk Road Universities Network (SUN) and its objectives. He noted that SUN is an international non-governmental organization entirely free from commercial interests, with an academic and cultural mission. Established in South Korea in 2015, the Network unites 87 universities in 65 cities across 28 countries along the historic Silk Road. Songdon Hwang also shared information about the organization’s ongoing projects, member universities, and planned activities.

The meeting continued with an exchange of views on a range of other topics of mutual interest.
