Historical Figures Club held an event dedicated to Solidarity Day

The Historical Figures Club, operating under the Department of Political and Social Sciences at Azerbaijan University, organized an event dedicated to 31 December – the World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day.

The event was opened with an introductory speech by the Club Chair, Ragsana Mursalova, a third-year student of the Faculty of History. In her remarks, the Club Chair spoke about the historical events that laid the foundation for the World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day and emphasized the exceptional role of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the establishment and celebration of this significant date.

This was followed by presentations and speeches delivered by Elvin Talishinsky, head of the Department of Political and Social Sciences; Tarlan Agayev, lecturer of the Department; and Babek Maharramov, lecturer of the Department of Social Work Organization, as well as the video presentations prepared by club members were also screened. The reports, speeches, and video materials highlighted the historical significance of Solidarity Day, Azerbaijan’s diaspora-building policy, the establishment of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora, and the growing role of diaspora and lobbying organizations in international politics. It was emphasized that diaspora development is one of the priority directions of the state policy of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The Congresses of World Azerbaijanis, as one of the key mechanisms for implementing this policy, were noted as major steps toward uniting our compatriots abroad around a shared goal and common national idea, as well as forward-looking initiatives. It was also underlined that millions of Azerbaijanis living in different countries around the world celebrate Solidarity Day each year with great enthusiasm as a symbol of their loyalty to their Homeland.
