“O, my Homeland” knowledge competition among students was held at Azerbaijan University
A student knowledge competition titled “O, my Homeland” was held at Azerbaijan University. Initiated by the Public Relations Department, the competition aimed to foster a deeper understanding among students and allow them to demonstrate their knowledge of national sovereignty, the foundations of Azerbaijan’s state independence, the core principles of the Constitution, the historical and cultural heritage of Karabakh, the historic victory achieved in the 44-day Patriotic War, and the concept of the Great Return to the liberated territories.
As part of the project, four teams were formed – “Tourismers”, “Legatus”, “Aristocracy” and “Fighters” – each consisting of five students from the faculties of Business and Economics, Humanities and Social Sciences, and ICT.
Participating teams answered questions on various topics, including “The Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan,” “Karabakh in history, literature, and art: past and present”, “The Great Return to Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur”, “Economy”, “Information and communication technologies” and “General worldview”.
Team performances and responses of teams were evaluated by a jury panel composed of Nahid Almasov, deputy dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics; assoc. prof. Elvin Talyshinski, head of the Department of Political and Social Sciences; assoc. prof. Nariman Boyukkishi, head of the Department of Finance and Accounting; and Tahmina Huseynova, a representative of the Public Relations Department.
The “Aristocracy” team emerged as the winner of the competition. All participants received certificates, while the winning team members were awarded a trophy and special prizes in addition to their certificates.
In addition to promoting students’ intellectual growth, the competition made a significant contribution to strengthening patriotic spirit and deepening the understanding of national values.
It is worth noting that the competition was held as part of the action plan of “The Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty” declared by Azerbaijan University, in accordance with the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated December 28, 2024.
