At Azerbaijan University, within the framework of the “Children’s Rights Month”, which runs from October 20 to November 20, an educational session was organized by the Department of Social Work Organization. The primary goal of the session was to identify aspects of child rights protection, emotional well-being, sense of security, capacity for self-expression, and the formation of spiritual values.

Senior lecturer of the Department and psychologist Lala Babaeva organized a group activity during the session on the topic “Psychological Aspects of Children’s Rights”. Students majoring in Corrective Education participated in the group work.

During the session, psychologist Lala Babaeva discussed the connection between mental disorders and violations of children’s rights, explaining the process of working with real cases. She also detailed how a psychologist operates in such cases, including the stages of event analysis and the principles of developing an intervention plan.

It should be noted that upon acceding to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, Azerbaijan assumed a number of obligations in the field of child rights protection. Annually, on the initiative of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the period preceding the anniversary of the adoption of the Convention is declared as “Children’s Rights Month”. The purpose of this observance is to achieve effective protection and promotion of children’s rights, raise awareness, and address issues in this area, guided by the fundamental principles of the Convention.
