Meeting held with newly admitted doctoral students at Azerbaijan University
Nushaba Guliyeva, Advisor to the Rector of Azerbaijan University and Director of the International Center for Master’s and Doctoral Studies, met with doctoral students newly admitted to the Doctor of Philosophy program for the 2025/2026 academic year. The main purpose of the introductory meeting was to inform students about adapting to University life and research activities, academic supervision, dissertation topic selection, and conducting research in accordance with international standards.
During the meeting, the Director of the Center, PhD in History and Assoc. Prof. Nushaba Guliyeva, congratulated the doctoral students and wished them success in their academic work. She emphasized that doctoral studies are a crucial stage for young scholars and require a high level of scientific preparation. Highlighting the importance of planning research activities, she noted that systematic and purposeful work is essential on this path.
Participants were provided with detailed guidance on selecting and approving dissertation topics, principles of working with academic supervisors, proper application of research methods, writing and publishing scientific articles, and the relevant academic standards. The current regulatory requirements and the stages leading up to the dissertation defense were also explained.
Comprehensive information was given regarding the rights and responsibilities of doctoral students and candidates, evaluation of their research activities, submission of reports, and procedures for final certification.
The session concluded with a Q&A segment and an exchange of views.
