The ICT Faculty students presented their projects

Students of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) of Azerbaijan University presented their projects. The event was attended by the Rector of Azerbaijan University, PhD in Philology Saadat Aliyeva; Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs Yusif Gasimov; advisor to the Rector and Director of the International Center for Master’s and Doctoral Studies Nushaba Guliyeva; Dean of the Faculty of ICT Asif Pashayev; Head of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science Rashad Mastaliyev; faculty members; and students.

The event was opened with a welcoming speech by the Dean of the Faculty, Asif Pashayev, who also introduced the event program. The Dean noted that the students had enriched the theoretical knowledge acquired during their studies with practical experience and expressed pride in their ability to demonstrate their potential through real projects and products. Asif Pashayev emphasized that special attention is paid at the Faculty to organizing education in a project-oriented learning environment.

Following this, Yunis Badalov, a fourth-year student majoring in Information Security and the “Best Student” of the ICT Faculty for the autumn semester, together with his classmates Nihat Aliyev and Farid Akhundov, presented their project entitled “Codcoders”. The project is aimed at providing students with a unified platform for presenting educational materials in a new format during their studies, gaining internships, and preparing for employment. The participants were provided with detailed information on the functionality of the project, and questions from the audience were addressed.

Murad Mirzayev, a fourth-year student of the Faculty of ICT majoring in Information Technologies, delivered a presentation on a game application he had developed. His presentation, which included detailed information on the origin and development of the game concept, game strategy, its characters, and technical features, attracted significant interest from the audience. The logical structure of the gameplay, the visual materials presented, and the demonstration of the prototype reflected the high professional level of the project.

Subsequently, Abdulvahab Poladzada and Ulvi Sadigzada, the winners of the “Best Student” nomination of the ICT Faculty, orginized with a joint initiative of the AzEdu.az educational portal and higher education institutions, shared their success stories and provided advice to first- and second-year students. Abdulvahab Poladzada spoke about

the training programs he had completed at the Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Center and the international certificates he had obtained. Ulvi Sadigzada discussed his participation as a member of the team representing Azerbaijan University at the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) and the experience gained during the competition.

Thereafter, first-year students of the Faculty Jasur Ismayilov, Nuray Akbarova, and Ibrahim Imanzada shared their experiences of participating in the ICPC. The students noted that it was their first participation in an international programming competition and that it served as strong motivation for more active participation in future contests. They emphasized that the intensive and dynamic problem-solving environment at the competition provided valuable experience and that they plan to strengthen their preparation to achieve higher results in the future.

In the next part of the event, Abdulvahab Poladzada was awarded a certificate by the Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Center, and international certificates were presented to team members who participated in the Round of 16 and Quarterfinals of the ICPC. The ICPC Organizing Committee also awarded third-degree certificates to the members of the “AU-1” team: Ulvi Sadigzadф, Nihat Aliyev, and Jasur Ismayilov for their performance in both stages.

Following the award ceremony, Rector Saadat Aliyeva emphasized that creative thinking is one of the key criteria for development in the field of information technologies. She noted that the projects presented by the students demonstrate their ability to apply theoretical knowledge acquired in class in practice. The Rector noted that the University consistently supports student initiatives and creates appropriate conditions for transforming their ideas into real projects, concluding her speech with the words: “These projects show that you will enter the professional environment with greater confidence. I am proud of you and wish you continued creative success”.

It should be noted that the “AU-1” team will represent Azerbaijan University at the ICPC Semifinals, which will be held in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, from December 15 to 18, 2025.
