A Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation has been signed between Azerbaijan University and Shymkent University of Kazakhstan. The Memorandum was signed by the Rector of Azerbaijan University, PhD in Philology Saadat Aliyeva, and the Rector of Shymkent University, Nurlybek Seitkulov. The document provides for the establishment and expansion of academic relations between the parties, including the exchange of faculty members, students, and staff, as well as the development and implementation of joint research projects.

Prior to the signing ceremony, a meeting of the delegations was held, during which potential areas of cooperation were discussed and views were exchanged on the implementation of tasks arising from the Memorandum.

Rector of Azerbaijan University Saadat Aliyeva presented information on the activities of the University she leads and outlined the key priorities of its internationalization policy. She emphasized that one of the main strategic priorities is the development of cooperation with higher education institutions of the Turkic states. In the context of significant global socio-political processes, she noted that Turkic states should continue to strengthen cooperation and unite more closely in protecting the common interests of the Turkic world. In recent years, relations among Turkic states have shown positive dynamics, and the increasing number of mutual visits by heads of state serves as clear evidence of deepening ties. Strengthening relations within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States creates broad opportunities for cooperation among higher education institutions, and universities should actively participate in this process.

Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs Yusif Gasimov provided detailed information to the guests on the organization of research activities and University’s position in international rankings, while Rector’s Advisor, Director of the International Center for Master’s and Doctoral Studies Nushaba Guliyeva, spoke about admission process for international students, and international dual-degree programs. Head of the International Relations Department Elmira Ismayilova presented an in-depth overview of the University’s internationalization policy.

Rector of Shymkent University Nurlybek Seitkulov expressed great satisfaction with his visit to Azerbaijan and noted that he felt at home. Speaking about the institution he leads, he emphasized that internationalization and academic mobility are among its key

priorities and expressed confidence that the signed Memorandum would be successful and mutually beneficial for both parties.

The meeting was also attended by Assel Auelbekova, coordinator of the International Cooperation Department of Shymkent University, and Sevil Piriyeva, Assoc. Prof. at Ankara University, Turkiye.
