Students of Philology Faculty of Azerbaijan University listened to the next lecture on History of Azerbaijan Literature given by docent of Azerbaijan Language and Literature department Farhad Madatov at the well-known Azerbaijani poet Samad Vurghun's house museum. The museum is located in the house, which was built in 19th century and where the poet spent the last two years of his life, and consists of 6 rooms. The poet's study room, living room and bedroom are preserved exactly in the same way.
The students also got acquainted with the exposition departments of the museum and listened to interesting information about the various moments of the great poet’s life and creativity. Farhad Madatov drew attention to the unrevealed and clandestine parts of Samad Vurghun’s works.
The director of the museum, Nushaba Vakilova, informed the students about the innovations of the museum and noted that two new sections were created at the museum. The new created first section is dedicated to Samad Vurghun’s sons, national poet Vagif Samadoglu and national writer Yusif Samadoglu. Their personal belongings and manuscripts are exhibited there.
The second section includes the "60s Generation"exposition. Portraits of prominent representatives of the 1960s, paintings by national artist Sattar Bahlulzadeh, drawings by national poet Vagif Samadoglu, and household items that were fashionable in those years are displayed in this section.
Students have shown interest to Samad Vurghun’s memorial properties such as original photographs, paintings, manuscripts, research works, gifts, magazines of past years. Not only the legendary royal that was once performed at this house by prominent composers Uzeyir Hajibeyov, Gara Garayev as guests, but also saz (national instrument), the jacket, the shotgun and the carpet given to Samad Vurghun were in the centre of students’ attention.
