Azerbaijan University’s Ethics Policy is an essential body within academic institutions that ensures research and activities conducted by staff and students adhere to ethical standards. Its primary role is to safeguard the integrity of research, protect participants involved in studies, and ensure that all activities comply with national ethical guidelines. The policy typically reviews research proposals to ensure that they meet ethical standards. This includes assessing the risk to participants, ensuring informed consent is obtained, and verifying that privacy and confidentiality are upheld.
In addition to overseeing research, the policy may also address issues related to academic misconduct, such as plagiarism or falsification of data. It provides a platform for resolving ethical dilemmas, offering guidance to researchers on how to navigate complex situations. The policy often includes a diverse range of members, including faculty from various disciplines, to provide a comprehensive review of research activities. Through its work, the University Ethics policy fosters a culture of responsibility, trust, and transparency within the academic policy, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in a socially responsible and ethical manner.
Scientific and Methodological Council
The Scientific and Methodological Council at the university convenes on a monthly basis. During each meeting, the Council reviews submitted educational materials—including textbooks, manuals, and methodological aids—for their compliance with established academic and methodological standards. These materials are also subjected to a plagiarism check.
Only after passing this review process are the materials forwarded to the Great Scientific Council for final approval and printing. Once approved, the materials may be officially printed and used in classroom instruction.
