Azerbaijan University has risen 26 places in the latest edition of the prestigious international Round University Ranking (RUR). By ascending from 970th to 944th position globally compared to 2025, the University has further consolidated its standing in the global higher education landscape. Azerbaijan University also retained its position as the 4th-ranked higher education institution in the country according to this index.

RUR, one of the leading international ranking agencies, evaluates university performance across 4 strategic key areas: teaching quality, research activity, internationalization, and financial sustainability, encompassing 20 individual indicators. According to the methodology, teaching and research indicators each account for 40% of the overall score, while internationalization and financial sustainability account for 10% each. The assessment criteria include faculty size, student-to-faculty ratio, academic publications and citations, international collaboration metrics, the proportion of international students and faculty members, and the efficiency of financial resource management. A total of 17 universities from Azerbaijan were included in the RUR ranking this year.

It should be noted that Azerbaijan University has ranked 4th nationally in the RUR rankings for the third consecutive year, having first entered the ranking in 2024. This achievement is of particular significance for strengthening Azerbaijan University’s position in international rankings. The progress recorded in the ranking, together with the University’s continued leading position nationally, not only reflects the development dynamics of its teaching and research activities but also demonstrates its growing recognition within the international academic community.
