A training seminar on the topic “The h-Index and effective citation strategy” was held at Azerbaijan University. The aim of the event was to raise awareness among academic staff and young researchers about research performance indicators, particularly citation metrics, and to enhance their visibility in international academic databases. 

At the event, the Head of the Scence Department, PhD in Math Latifa Aghamaliyeva, delivered a presentation in which she provided a detailed explanation of the concept of the h-index, its role in evaluating research performance, and its calculation methodology. The presentation also addressed issues such as the proper creation of researcher profiles in international academic databases (Scopus, Web of Science, etc.) and academic social networks, the development of an effective citation strategy, and offered practical recommendations on ways to improve the h-index, as well as it covered citation ethics, principles of academic integrity, and the importance of scientific collaboration. 

The training seminar continued with a discussion and a Q&A session on the topic.
