First-year students of the ICT Faculty Azerbaijan University participated in the “Sumgayit Cup” programming competition, organized jointly by Sumgayit State University, the Innovation and Digital Development Agency, the Sumgayit Innovation Center, and the Azerbaijani community of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC).

Azerbaijan University was represented in the competition by two teams. The competition, held in the city of Sumgayit, became a valuable experience in terms of preparation for programming competitions for Nuray Akbarova (Computer Engineering), Abbas Ahmadov (Computer Engineering), Ibrahim Imanzada (Information Technologies), Mahammad Hagverdizada (Information Technologies), Fateh Mammadov (Information Technologies), and Jasur Ismayilov (Information Security). They improved their problem-solving, technical, and communication skills in a real competitive environment.

It should be noted that in the competition, which was held for the second time this year, 35 teams from 24 universities tested their knowledge and skills. The goal of the “Sumgait Cup” programming competition, which has already become a tradition, is to develop participants programming and algorithmic thinking skills, create a healthy competitive environment, and identify talents oriented toward innovation. The competition is intended to increase interest in the ICT field, as well as to promote the expansion of cooperation opportunities between educational institutions and relevant organizations.
