A career development meeting was held for Social Work students

Within the framework of the action plan arising from the memorandum signed between Azerbaijan University and the Azerbaijan Social Work Public Union, the Center for Social and Psychological Research and Counseling organized a career development event for students enrolled in the English-medium Social Work program. The event was attended by the Center’s Director Aygun Muradli, Deputy Chairman of the Public Union Tural Mirzayev, Executive Director of the Union Laman Aliyeva, and social work specialist Kanan Ismayilov.

The guests introduced students to career opportunities in the field, provided detailed information on pathways for professional development, and answered questions related to the profession.

The meeting was organized around three main thematic areas. At the beginning of the event, the speakers discussed the development of the social work sector in Azerbaijan, presenting participants with comprehensive information on the history, current state, and future prospects of the profession in the country. The strategic importance of the field, existing challenges, and ways to transform these challenges into opportunities generated considerable interest among students.

The section dedicated to the future prospects of Social Work students focused on how young professionals can position themselves within the field. Discussions also highlighted the importance of building professional networks and utilizing resources for gaining deeper expertise in the profession.

The most dynamic part of the event was devoted to the topic of “Career Building”. During their presentations, the guests addressed issues such as the essence of career development and long-term career strategies, the role of self-development and personal growth in professional success, technical competencies required in the labor market, principles of preparing a competitive CV, professionalism in business correspondence, proper email style and etiquette, opportunities for studying abroad and self-presentation in international environments, scholarship programs offered by leading international universities, and application strategies for such programs.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Center Director Aygun Muradli delivered closing remarks, thanking the guests and emphasizing that the event would make a significant contribution to the personal and professional development of the students.
