An awareness-raising event was held at Azerbaijan University as part of the “2022–2026 National Action Plan on Strengthening the Fight against Corruption”, approved by Decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated April 4, 2022. The event aimed to inform University staff about the state policy pursued in the field of combating corruption, the existing legislative framework, and international experience, as well as to promote an anti-corruption culture among faculty members.

The event was opened with introductory remarks by Nariman Boyukkishi, Head of the Department of Finance and Accounting, who introduced the guest speaker. In his address, the Department Head emphasized that legal measures alone are insufficient in combating corruption, highlighting the critical importance of promoting ethical values and educational initiatives.

Natig Hasanov, Doctor of Law and lecturer at the Department of Political and Social Sciences, then presented a report titled “Legal Foundations of the Fight Against Corruption in Azerbaijan: National Legislation, State Programs, and International Cooperation Mechanisms”. The presentation focused on the core priorities of the National Action Plan.

It was emphasized that the National Action Plan, approved by Presidential Decree, identifies enhancing transparency in public administration, strengthening accountability, expanding e-services, and eliminating conditions conducive to corruption as its key priority areas. The document sets out important objectives, including enhancing the transparency of public institutions, increasing citizen satisfaction, implementing open government principles, developing digital governance, and strengthening public oversight.
