The implementation of the “Meeting with young scientists” project of the Historical Figures Club is ongoing
Within the framework of the “Meeting with young scientists” project, implemented by the Historical Figures Club operating under the Department of Political and Social Sciences at Azerbaijan University, a meeting was held with Narmin Mammadli, researcher at the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS and member of the Council of Young Scientists.
The event was opened by Head of the Department of Political and Social Sciences, PhD in Political Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Elvin Talyshinski. In his speech, he noted that archaeology is not only the study of the past but also a strategic field in terms of preserving national identity, historical memory, and cultural heritage.
Then, Ragsana Mursalova, Chair of the Historical Figures Club, informed participants about the “Meeting with young scientists” project. She noted that the aim of the project is to reveal students’ scientific potential, engage them in academic research, and create opportunities for direct interaction with young scholars.
In the main part of the event, Narmin Mammadli delivered a comprehensive presentation titled “Kurgan monuments and their archaeological study: The case of the Yedditepe Kurgans of the Fuzuli region”. In his presentation, he spoke about the research process of the Yedditepe burial mounds in the Fuzuli region and provided detailed information on excavation stages, applied methodologies, stratigraphic analysis, and interpretation of findings.
Following the presentation, the guest answered students’ questions related to the topic.
It should be noted that within the framework of the “Archaeological research of the Karabakh plain” project, implemented in accordance with a memorandum signed between the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS and the German Archaeological Institute, students of Azerbaijan University Shafa Gumbatova and Zakhra Bakhshiyeva participated in field research last year and were awarded for their contributions.
