Master students majoring in Social Work at Azerbaijan University completed a research internship in April 2025 at the National Observatory on Labor Market and Social Protection Issues.

During the internship, the students became acquainted with the process of designing and conducting surveys in the field of social sciences. They received both theoretical and practical training in survey methodology, including proper sampling procedures, questionnaire design, data collection, and preliminary data analysis. Specialists at the Observatory conducted in-depth discussions with the interns on the principles of academic research, quantitative and qualitative methods, and assigned practical exercises related to the field. The master students became familiar with actual survey projects implemented at the Observatory and participated in the processes as observers.

Particular attention should be paid to the active participation of the students throughout the internship. They engaged enthusiastically in Q&A sessions, contributed to discussions on current issues related to their research, and began shaping the initial outlines of their own academic inquiries.

This experience proved highly valuable for developing students’ research competencies and for gaining hands-on knowledge aligned with current labor market demands.

It is worth noting that a Memorandum of Understanding was previously signed between Azerbaijan University and the National Observatory on Labor Market and Social Protection. Under this Memorandum, both parties are committed to implementing joint activities aimed at enhancing the research skills and academic development of master students.
