The internal qualifying round for the National Tax Olympiad organized among higher education students through collaboration between the State Agency for Science and Higher Education and the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy, was held at Azerbaijan University. A total of 15 students from the Faculty of Business and Economics specializing in Finance, Accounting, and Economics participated in the selection process. The round was conducted on the basis of test questions developed in accordance with the level of complexity of the tax system and tax legislation.

Five candidates scoring the highest marks - exceeding 50 points - at this stage will advance to the finals. The final stage will take place from June 12 to June 14 at the administrative building of the Training Center of the State Tax Service in the Shamakhi District.

Meanwhile, a national student debate tournament is being introduced for the first time this year under the same joint initiative between the State Agency for Science and Higher Education and the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy. The tournament will be hosted from June 5 to June 7 at the Training Center of the State Tax Service in the Shamakhi.

The debate tournament, organized with the aim of promoting tax culture and financial literacy among students and faculty, fostering analytical thinking, logical analysis and public speaking skills among students, and at the same time stimulating interest in the field of taxation, will involve 64 debaters from 29 higher education institutions. According to the rules, the debate tournament features preparatory and final stages, with the initial phase covering team allocations, panel formation, and fixture draws. The winning team will be determined by the judging panel and awarded special honors alongside recognition for the top 10 speakers.

It should be noted that Aytan Aslanova and Nazrin Mammadzada, students from the Faculty of Business and Economics who distinguished themselves in the University’s internal debate competition, will represent Azerbaijan University at the debate tournament.
