The “Winter School of Social Work in Khankandi” has concluded its activities
The winter school organized by Azerbaijan University in the city of Khankandi has successfully concluded its activities. A total of 52 students participated in the “Winter School of Social Work in Khankandi”, including 22 students from Azerbaijan University and 30 from Karabakh University, along with faculty members of the Department of Social Work Organization at Azerbaijan University and social work professionals.
In addition to training sessions on current topics in social work, the project program also included excursions, visits to historical and cultural sites, as well as meetings with formerly internally displaced persons. During the training sessions, which covered contemporary theoretical and practical aspects of the field of social work, participants also explored topics related to the planning, implementation, and monitoring of social projects.
As part of the four-day winter school, students attended training sessions delivered by faculty members of the Department of Social Work Organization at Azerbaijan University: Aykhan Shahbazsoy on “Professional Values and Ethical Principles in Social Work in the Post-Conflict Period”, Maria Davidova on “Emotional Intelligence: Recognizing, Managing, and Directing Emotions”, Sara Aghayeva on “The Effectiveness of Mentorship and Supervision Programs in Social Work”, and social work specialist Emin Mammadov on “Personal Development in the Context of Social Work: Planning and Self-Improvement”. The training sessions were held at the academic building of Karabakh University.
An infotour to the cities of Khankandi and Shusha was organized for the participants, and meetings were held with formerly internally displaced persons resettled in Khankandi. On the final day of the winter school, participants visited the Social Service Center located in the village of Guzanli in the Aghdam region.
Students who participated in the project not only enhanced their knowledge and skills in the field of social work but also experienced the atmosphere of the return process to the liberated territories.
It should be noted that the “Winter School of Social Work in Khankandi” was organized at the initiative of the “Sosfera” Social Development Club operating under the Department of Social Work Organization. The aim of the project was to expand students’ knowledge and experience in social work, strengthen the exchange of experience and networking among participants, enrich opportunities for the practical application of social work through visits to historical and cultural sites and informal learning experiences, and to study the social conditions of formerly internally displaced persons through direct engagement with them.
