Azerbaijan University hosted the 2nd AU MUN Simulation Conference
The 2nd AU MUN Simulation Conference was organized at the initiative of the Student Youth Organization (SYO) of Azerbaijan University by the “AU MUN Club” operating under the organization. The Conference was held in line with the priority areas discussed within the framework of the 13th Session of the United Nations World Urban Forum (WUF13), with the aim of developing young people’s diplomatic, public speaking, and debating skills, as well as encouraging their engagement in discussions on global issues.
The opening ceremony featured speeches by Bakhtiyar Guluzada, Program Manager of the Azerbaijan Student Youth Organizations’ Union, Huseyn Rustamli, Chairman of the SYO of Azerbaijan University, Ali Babazada, lecturer at the Department of Political and Social Sciences, and Gulzaman Aliyeva, Secretary-General of the “AU MUN Club”. The speakers emphasized that supporting MUN simulation projects and organizing such conferences at Azerbaijan University enable students to apply the theoretical knowledge acquired in the field of international relations in practice.
The Conference consisted of two committees. The topic discussed in the Azerbaijani-language committee was “Global challenges of urbanization and prospects for regional implementation: building sustainable, inclusive, and climate-resilient cities”, while the English-language committee addressed the topic “Building inclusive, climate-resilient and smart cities: policy innovation and global urban governance in an era of rapid urbanization”.
The event concluded with a closing ceremony during which outstanding country representatives from the committees were awarded.
It should be noted that 55 students participated in the Conference, including 17 international students.
